I Dislike Titles BEDA #20

So, I don't understand why actors or actresses want to start a clothing line but they always look really bad...I just don't get why they can't either design nice clothes or work with someone with the talent to design clothes. Also, what I don't understand is that the people who have these clothing lines wear really great clothes. I don't get it...and it's a shame that the people who can have these lines don't take advantage of it.

Fame BEDA #19

So I have been watching Fame...the TV Series from the 80's. It is so great but I don't quite understand the concept. I guess all of the kids that are in the performing art schools don't dance or play music or act because that is the whole of their being, it is because they want fame? I feel that people who peruse these things because of fame either never get there or become famous and blow it all away. I suppose all of them just want to perform, which I guess performing and fame are synonyms.

Netflix BEDA #18

So here's a list of movies I have seen on my netflix account:

I watched a lot of dance things just because I felt like dancing the past 2 weeks...

Step Up 3: So entertaining, didn't take it seriously, wish they spent more time on quality of choreography just because the other two were better..and they did moves just for 3D which sucked
Bo Burnham: Words, Words, Words: hilarious.
Lambada: SO BAD!! DO NOT WATCH! I REPEAT, DO NOT WATCH! THIS IS A PUBLIC HEALTH ANNOUNCEMENT!
The Dancer: good, I liked the dancer they followed, it was an actual documentary and not just a "I starve myself and train and train and train and ruin my feet" kind of story
Super High Me: Hmmm...educational I suppose? haha it was pretty funny as well...
Mad Hot Ballroom: I like it... a lot..
Shall We Dance? 80's version...kinda weird...
B-Girl: so bad. so cheesy.
Dancing Across Borders: Super interesting, a bit slow.
Wristcutters: A Love Story : SO WEIRD!!! but totally worth the beginning weirdness.
Etoiles: Dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet: It was good. kinda like The Dancer, but I liked The Dancer better...
Exit Through the Gift Shop: Really liked this one, the guy they follow is a bit eccentric and a loser but its interesting and I really like street art, so I enjoyed it.
The Usual Suspects: I do not even know where to begin!! It is so brilliant, plot twister, great acting, sooo good.
Strictly Ballroom: The characters are hilarious!
Dirty Dancing: one of my favorite dancing movies, it's just classic.
King Corn: Interesting but I was kind of disappointed, I heard it was really good and it didn't live up to the standards that I had placed...
The Corporation: really great, really interesting, super impressed
30 Days: I watched quite a few episodes of 30 days, impressed by all of them, in general just a nice series. It was well done, they didn't make the drama more amplified than it should be...it was just good
Freakonomics: it was great, informational...yeah...
Memento: I still don't really understand, I need to watch it again...but it was really great.
Ballet Shoes: If I didn't love Emma Watson, I would think this movie was stupid...but since I do love Emma Watson, it's stupidly entertaining...
The LXD: The Uprising Begins: I always want to type LSD instead of LXD...hmm...its good, another dancing thing...I do want to see the next one...I'm not sure if it is a TV series or if it's a movie that was cut into chapters...or what, but the dancing is great, the acting is...mehh, alright, there isn't much acting so I can't quite decide yet...

No Power! BEDA #17

Yea, so as you probably guessed from the title, on August 18th I think, late at night, my house lost power until earlier today...so that was a bummer. What was more of a bummer was that my wisdom teeth were removed the following day and I was banking on being able to watch movies on my laptop and maybe write a bit or watch tv while eating ice cream. I did not get to do any of these things because my ice cream melted and there was no internet or power to my laptop. Yea. That was the past couple of days.

My mouth seems alright though, the left side seems kinda swollen and achey but in general it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be...my mouth just feels a bit weird and I can't eat very quickly or hard things because they hurt...but its a nice excuse to just eat pudding all day.

Well I'm going to end this blog and the next blog I make will be...about what I've been watching on Netflix! Yay lists!

With 4 fewer teeth,
Kristen

Dream BEDA #16

Last night I had a dream that my house was on fire. I got my dog and evacuated my house and it wasn't like a huge fire, just a small one and I was just like oh well, there won't be much damage if the fire department comes quickly. Unfortunately when I kept trying to call the fire department but never really got through and I couldn't get ahold of anyone that would do something about my house being on fire. I tried again and again and they kept asking me these weird questions and beating around the bush of actually sending a fire truck to put out the fire. I was so flustered and I was crying and then my dad shows up and he looks at me and asks why I didn't put it out when it was just starting and why I hadn't called the fire department. Then I tried the fire department again and they said that they would send someone in half an hour and then my dad evaporated and I watched my house burn, it still wasn't that large though but I had that panicky feeling because...well..my house was on fire. Then I woke up. Bad way to begin my day, I still have that panicky feeling in my gut.

I wonder what this dream means...college related possibly?

Oh my, I'm rich! BEDA #15

Oh my goodness, its already the 18th, I'm doing horribly at this...I'll just run into September...

Yesterday I went shopping, which is great, what's even better is that I went with my mom so she was willing to pay. I love when that happens. I bought a micro plush blanket which is super soft and a towel. Right now I'm counting my change that I keep in spice bottles. so far I have 18 dollars...I feel bad for the store where I decide to just pay in change.

Keep on counting!

BEDA #14

My name is Kristen and I like eating macaroni and cheese and watching Wishbone and...my hair is short...and I am wearing a long skirt...and my light is utterly crazy because I am being controlled by a woman on the internet. I will tell a story now: There once was a man named Michael Finnigin he had whiskers on his chinigan. They fell off and then grew in again. Poor old Michael Finnigin begin again. REPEAT!

My friend Kelly wrote this. She leaves Friday :(

Poetic BEDA #13

Today is so poetic, Maggie is leaving today and it's raining. I'm also going to a party in a little while to say good bye to our childhood. It's like in Men in Black. "Baby, your not sad because it's raining, it's raining because you're sad." Because of this, I think I am the weather lord.

HUZZAH!

My Problem BEDA #12

I promise I promise I promise....*fingers crossed* ....

I have a problem. This problem is that if I tell anyone about an idea or something that I'm doing, I then DON'T DO IT. It is a serious problem and I am thinking about seeing a psychologist about it(not really). Although I really do need to figure out how to not do this. Well... I will do two today and then two tomorrow, that'll be good.

Where do I begin? I feel like there is a lot I haven't told you...even though nothing comes to mind when I think about the past three days except for the obvious. So I guess I'll stick with the obvious.

Today, I had to say good bye to one of my dearest friends, Maggie. It was weird and I thought I would cry, actually I almost did but before I actually said good bye. I asked my parents if I could take the car to hang out with her and my mom taunted me saying, "Oh they're all leaving you, how sad." and in my head I was rolling my eyes and saying "stop being so sappy mom..." but then this little person inside said, "this is the last time you'll see everyone until Christmas, a lot changes in 4 months..." and I teared up. The actual good bye was nice, I hung out with her family and then another friend came over and we all talked and packed and watched YouTube and ate amazingly good Indian food and talked some more. It was delightful.

Well I think this is a blog post.

Until next time(very soon),
Kristen

All Caught Up! BEDA #11

so today I decided to sign up for Netflix, which I believe is a wonderful investment for a short while. I then went to a picnic with some friends but I got there early so I got to pick the spot where we were going to sit, I'm sure I'll tell a funny story later about tonight but right now im just waiting. So no really funny story that pokes out at me, though it was a good time.

We went to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and had a picnic on the lawn, while waiting for the sun to go down and for it to be dark we ate nutter butters and oreos. The Nelson has two buildings, the old one and the new one, which is called the Bloch building I believe. The building is very modern and you can take silhouette pictures against it so we did. It was great, the Nelson is just so beautiful. I think I am going to miss that place a lot, it's so peaceful and fresh when you're there, it's great.

Well, I think this post is done, hopefully I will have a bit more stability for the next couple of days.

No Title BEDA #10

so yesterday, I went over to maggies house and we played magic the gathering again, I owned. we then proceeded to make butterbeer which was delicious although the whipped topping is much to strong for my liking. I then went home and kinda was a bum. you know those days where you just don't know what you really did with your time? yesterday was like that.

sorry for the bad punctuation today.

So on August 9th... BEDA #9

I feel like I did something August 9th, like something where I went out in the morning and I didn't come back home until late and then I just hit the bed...but I can't seem to remember what...I KNOW! I actually didn't get out early and come home late, I was cleaning all day! I even read some blogs and tricked my mind into thinking that I wrote a blog...silly brain. Yea...August 9th was a productive day. I made tons and tons of lists, and I partially cleaned my desk and put things in folders. I like when things fit in folders. It's nice.

I'm spacey.

spacespacespacespace <-spaces.

your spacey spaciness,

Busy Busy BEDA #8

I had such a productive day!

1. Took a shower
2. Called Apple because I didn't get my Back to School Promo
3. My friend picked me up and we went to:
a. Bed Bath and Beyond
b. Kinkos to fax something for Apple where I stupidly left my Debit card.
c. The Bank
d. Target where we found Magic: The Gathering cards, and I bought a pair of what my mom calls grannie shoes. Don't ask me why, I have no idea.
e. Scurried back to Kinkos to retrieve my debit card.
f. A camera store where Maggie bought a fancy shmancy tripod.
g. Maggie's house to drop off her sister
h. my house to learn how to play Magic: The Gathering
i. had dinner consisting of squash and tomatoes with olive oil and herbs and then a lovely hamburger and lazy daisy cake, delicious.
j. played a full game of Magic: The Gathering.
k. Maggie left to go home and so I....
4. Watched Amelie, which is absolutely beautiful and amazing and ahhh...films like those are reasons why I keep going to movies because occasionally a gem like that comes out and it just takes your breath away.

I know this was a choppy post but it was the only way to explain what happened today in an organized fashion. I am sure the events that happened today will pop up again later this week. But for now I am going to just sit in awe of a beautiful film.

Vintage Clothing BEDA #7

So yesterday, well technically two days ago since it is 1:00 in Kansas City, I went to this place called Re-Runs. Re-Runs is set up where they have a store in Westport and then their warehouse at a different location and their warehouse is huge and only open on saturdays for 6 hours. The warehouse is kind of like thrift store shopping but everything in it is vintage...it's really great and really cheap but you do have to be patient and sort through racks upon racks upon racks of clothes and you may pull something but then realize there are really bad pit-stains or something is wrong with the item. Anyways. I will show you what I bought:
1. Long skirt, I can't decide if I want to hem it or not, I haven't tried it on yet but I think this will be a bit of a difficult decision. I am fairly short, so long skirts or maxi dresses don't look the best on me but at the same time I really love long skirts...I can't decide...
2. A silk long sleeve XL shirt, I think it'd be great to wear with leggings and a belt, the texture is great and its cream colored, with no pit stains(thank god). Super happy with this purchase!
3. GREEN PANTS! WOOO!! These pants are so great!! They feel amazing and they are just such a good find, I'm not even sure if they fit me but I will make it work just because they are THAT great.
4. Off-white long sleeve shirt. The weave of the fabric is really interesting and it feels nice, but kinda weird. Its hard to describe. I'm not even sure what the material is.

Alright so the best part is that I only spent 22 dollars...yea..the skirt was 6, the shirts were 4 each, and the pants were 8...such a steal, even if they don't fit completely the way I want them to, that's still a total buy.

"I am so stupid!" BEDA #6?

I had one of those, "Kristen how could you forget! moments where I slammed my hand onto my forehead...and screamed, "I am so stupid!" I'm pretty sure my parents were scared for my self-esteem. I am going off to two family reunions right now which may end up being mediocre, instead of really really boring....but I will write another blogpost later today about what I did yesterday. I did some fun things and I was going to film it but I ended up not being in a very good mood and decided it best to not film...I will update you soon!

Computers and Odd Roommate BEDA #5

I have no interesting content today, besides the fact that I got a brand spankin' new laptop. It's a 15 in. MacBook Pro with 8GB of memory, which I am happy about. I also upgraded to the 750GB Drive. It's nice and fast. All I did today was transfer files from the two computers that I use at home to my computer, and then deleting the files on the other computers so that my mom can use the laptop that I used (a hand-me down from my sister; although still a nice laptop, just old). Something new, I didn't know that the firewire cable changed so I had to go out and buy an adaptor which was kinda a bummer, especially since neither OfficeMax or Radio Shack had either an adaptor or any firewire cables at all.

One weird thing happened today though, I found out who my roommate is...and it is someone I went to high school with. We didn't request each other, nor did the university mean to put us together, it just was a random thing. After talking, we decided it would be more of an adventure to get another roommate. So that was weird, I mean, I knew we were in the same small community thing(meaning we are part of a community that lives on the first three floors of a dorm) but thats still about 200 people! Its also not like most of my high school class is going to that university, 3 of us are...and it happens that two of us are in the same community but really, the same ROOM, so weird.

Lemon Cookies! BEDA #4

So today I made Lemon Cookies, they are super easy to make and are delicious. All you need to do is to mix a tub of cool whip with lemon cake mix and one egg. Bake at 350 for 10ish minutes and voila! delicious cookies!

nom nom nom nom!
I must now go consume these confections!

I am out!
Kristen

Questionaire BEDA #3

So I thought I would do a small questionnaire to introduce myself. I stole it from a friend.

What’s your name?
Kristen, I have various friends that call me by other random names that they make up on the spot like generic sugar muffin, type names.

How old are you?
I turned 18 in June, So I am a young one for going into my first year of university.

Where in the world are you?
Well I live in Kansas City but I will be going to school in Seattle which I am super duper excited about.

How long have you been blogging? (Or is this your first try?)
Well I tried blogging in April but it didn't work out and I was sick most of April so...I'll say that this is my first try.

How did you come up with your blog’s name?
Well...I just like the whole ideas of everything in life being a circle and I just enjoy circular things.

What’s your Hogwarts House?
I am Gryffindor! However I have strong Slytherin tendencies. Its about 60-40

What do you like to read?
I like books...I read some blogs online but not as many as I wish. I currently am reading Country Driving, it is summer reading.

What do you like to watch?
I enjoy USA network but I can only take too much TV. Other favorites are glee, fringe, bones, and merlin.

What’s the best song you listened to today?
Well currently I am listening to Pomplamoose while making Lemon Cookies. I really enjoy My Favorite Things, Nature Boy, and Another Day

Have you done anything really fun recently?
Well nothing like roller coaster riding fun, but I just hung out with a friend who I haven't seen in a month and that was awesome because she's really cool and nice...and we bombarded target with our long conversations...

In addition to BEDA, are you doing any other awesome things in August?
Not really, I move in September to go to school...so August is the last month of waiting. Actually it's going to be a sad month because most of my friends are leaving in August. However, it's nice to have an extra month to get my stuff together.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Uhm...no? Is there an appropriate answer to this question?

We have officially met! *handshake*
Kristen

OH MY GOODNESS! OH MY GOODNESS! BEDA #2

I AM LATE! I AM LATE...for a very important date! no time to say hello, GOOD BYE! I'M LATE! I'M LATE! I'M LATE!

Sorry about that! I definitely just forgot to blog yesterday...I will make it up to you tomorrow...because I will be doing some stuffities tomorrow..yes, that is a new word, stuffities...Well...what shall I blog about today? I am going to make a list, because that is what I do in times of need.

List of...things I am taking to college(that aren't normal dorm things):

1. My dinosaur, yes I did just say dinosaur. I have a stuffed animal dinosaur that giggles when you press her arm. I actually made it at this restaurant called T-Rex Cafe. and there is this little store called Build-A-Dino inside it, it is basically Build-A-Bear, but with dinos. Two of my friends decided to have their 18th birthday there and it was absolutely incredible, the fake scenery is magnificent.

2. Juggling sticks. My parents bought my devil sticks when I was in 6th grade and I never got the hang of them, but I found juggling sticks in the closet of our gym and I liked them, but I never got a set of my own until about a year ago when my parents got me a set for my birthday. It is a nice calming activity to sooth my stressful self.

3. Poi. Poi are essentially balls at the end of ropes. You generally spin 2 poi. You can spin them in different patterns. My sister introduced spinning to me and it is another soothing activity. It is actually very cool to see experts spin, they can light their poi on fire and the patterns they make are stunning.

4. Ukulele. I have played for...2 years, I think? Another calming activity for me. This is the one I am most worried about while in transportation because I have to fly and I really don't want it to break...I will probably carry it on but I don't want to put it in an overhead bin because people put huge suitcases in there and knocks things around...and my uke is my baby!

This is the end of my list. I am not taking a lot to school because I honestly don't need much, and I only have so much space in a small dorm. I actually like the idea of living with very few things. It is appealing to me. I will probably take pictures with me, or buy some posters to put on my walls but that's it.

Your sincere minimalist,
Kristen

My online commitment issues BEDA #1

I guess I will try this again.

I GUESS...we'll see.

You all know I have a problem with commitment. Especially commitment to online engagements...because it is difficult for me to realize that things online are actually real because they aren't tangible, and I am a very tangible kind of person.

For example, the way I like to communicate with friends are: 1. in person 2. talking on the phone 3. skype 4. texting 5. Facebook it obviously gets less and less personal down the line.

The way people choose to communicate is so interesting. As well as the way people choose to communicate with which people. For example I am more likely to text an acquaintance rather than call them. I am also more likely to talk to a close friend on the phone rather than talking with them on Facebook. It is actually so bad that I normally don't talk to close friends on Facebook, even if they're online and I want to talk to them , I get off Facebook and call. However with some people, they have friends who live hundreds of miles away and therefore can only communicate online, which is unfortunate that you can't aparate to see your friends.

Main Point: why do we not have magic! or...if we do have magic, why don't we know and utilize our magic powers...because it may be a Matilda incident where we have powers but don't recognize them or train them because we don't know they're there unless something happens where we subconsciously tap into them.

Things I Learned This Week

I am just starting to get over my dreadful illness which is awesome!!! So here are the things I learned about how to take care of myself while sick:

1. Cough drop of choice: Ricola Honey Lemon with Echinacea- I have had at least 2 packages of them in the past 5 days...they are delicious and definitely help soothe a soar throat.
2. I don't know if everyone goes through this but I go through phases where I want a lot of hot things and then I want a lot of cold things...like I drank tea for the first half of my illness but tea or anything hot sounds awful now...
3. Orange jell-o is my best friend
4. Chapstick totally makes me feel better...for some unexplainable reason as soon as I started putting Carmax on regularly I felt a tinsy bit better.
5. Buy Kleenex or tissues...do not depend on toilet paper for your sniffles.
6. If there is nothing good on TV, turn it off because you will probably fall asleep and dreams are way more interesting.
7. Do not fight the body aches, just feel sorry for yourself and be a bum on the couch.
8. Finally, I should have stayed home on Tuesday. Do not push recovery...I went back to school 3 days after I got the bug and 2 days before I was actually ready to go back, that was a bad idea.

To friendship

I have never had the friends I have now until I went to high school and I know that I will not find friends exactly like them in university. HOWEVER, I do plan to have friends...and real friends in university not just close acquaintances. Friends, I love you guys, you teach me so much and help me understand things that may be just out of grasp but...the world doesn't end with you guys and I hope that I have the emotional capacity to become just as good of friends with new people. You see, I believe in the human race. I believe that everyone has a story and that I can learn something from that story. It saddens me to think that others give up finding friends because they are content with the friendships they hold. It also saddens me when one gives up trying to find friends because they think they have all that they need already. You may have met the best friend you never had in that last class but you were uninterested to look sideways and comment about his/her awesome shoes. You just don't know who you can meet and the impact that they can have upon your life. 4 years ago, I sat in an assigned seat next to two girls I had never spoken with before. One of them became my best friend and now that I look back at it, I wonder what who would I have been if my science teacher hadn't assigned me a seat next to her's. This thought is a cold and dark thought that I don't want to think about because I can't imagine myself with out her in my life the past 4 years. This thought is also the reason why I am so grateful to my school's scheduling system and to my freshman science teacher.

I apologize if this seams sappy and also very choppy but it's what's in my brain...

Sick....again...

I really wish I had something exciting to share... however, I don't...I did watch movies today on the couch while I was eating cough drops like popcorn. I watched The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. I do not know what made me watch these two movies back to back but I definitely enjoy them both. I really enjoy Tom Hanks in both of them as well as Ian McKellen in The Da Vinci Code as well as Ewan McGregor in Angels & Demons. I never realized how those two movies have 3 of my favorite actors in them. Well, I'm keeping this short because I really need to get to sleep.

Sickness!

Alright, yesterday and today I have been completely sick. Not just a little cold, legit sick. and I must tell you, it sucked! However, I am getting caught up on sleep, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, I have nothing to blog about today or yesterday because I literally was sleeping all day, last night was the first tech rehearsal for a student production that I am in so that was kinda fun...except not because I was sick...thankfully, I don't have a speaking roll. I just play a zombie that says ARMGHF!!

I am a cheater

I am such a cheater... the thing that sucks is that I don't cheat other people, I cheat myself... like now, I am still pretending that it's April 1st and that I live on the west coast because it hasn't hit midnight there yet! I suppose this is the blog to introduce myself but I don't feel like telling you a bunch of random stuff about me at this moment in time. Instead, I am going to share with you a story that I told my friend when she had to go to the bathroom and we were chatting on Skype:

Once upon a time, there was a fluffy unicorn named Toad. It was a pretty pink unicorn with a rainbow tail, mane, and horn. One day, it was grazing in the Field of Happy Memories and it saw a great blue whale named Molly. Molly floated alongside the Field of Happy Memories in the Ocean of Bliss. Molly and Toad became friends. They talked all day and soon they walked so far down the shore that they were no longer in the Field of Happy Memories and Ocean of Bliss, instead they had wandered into the Land of Poop Eating Dogs. Luckily, the dogs also ate sugar crystalized grass so they were not vicious (however the stink was horrible because dogs really should not be eating that much sugar). Soon Toad began to show symptoms of the Poop Eating Dogs and it's horn, tail, and mane began to become dull. Molly noticed this and started to teach Toad how to swim. Pretty soon, Toad didn't go back to land after swimming. They soon started to drift back toward the Ocean of Bliss. The longer Toad was in the water, the more the Ocean had an impact on her musculature. All the while, Toad and Molly were falling in love, and they decided to have babies! Thus the narwhal was born.

umm...where did that come from?
